Hey,
Within the Mac OS X Mavericks preference pane for screen resolution, accessible from System Preferences > Displays, you are given an options what screen resolution you want. For some reason not all of the screen resolutions which your screen may be capable of are listed. To get around this problem we need to access a modifier key on your keyboard. To get a list of every screen resolution your screen is capable of press the option key while clicking on the scaled option button, this will give you a list of every screen resolution.
By clicking the scaled button and the option key at the same time you are given a full list that your screen is capable.
It is only a simple click, however one you need to know about.
